Keep Your Eye On The Register When Trying To Save Money

Took a quick shopping trip to Walgreen's this afternoon to pick up a couple things, not a planned couponing trip or anything.  However, since I had some time to kill, my son and I took our time and perused the orange tags (final closeouts) to see if there was anything good.  I find a few things that I picked up like small $0.10 dry erase boards, $0.20 highlighters and some $0.19 ducks for the bath.  There always seem to be a few gems being moved out to make room for something new so it's fun to see what you can find.

The point of this post, however, is to remind you that, as you lead a frugal, couponing lifestyle it is important to pay close attention to what the register is saying about your finds.  With so many deals it is easy for a large company like Walgreens to miss getting one or two loaded into their system.  As has happened before, I noticed another item that rang up wrong and simply set it aside since I didn't need it but when I got home I noticed that my $0.19 bath ducks both rung up for $1.99, 10 times the price.  Sure, it's only a few bucks but there is a principal and I would never have considered them for that higher price.  There are plenty of toys for the bath in my house already but it was a cheap little extravagance for us.

Of course, when I went back there were extremely helpful and glad to fix the error which I expected but it is still your responsibility (and mine) to make sure our items ring up right so, as I said in the title, keep your eye on the register as much as possible and always make one final study of the receipt when you get home.  Happy shopping and happy savings!
