Holiday Closeouts At Walgreens
Make sure you plan a trip soon to your local Walgreens. I found some great items heavily discounted after Thanksgiving. These are items that they expect to sell more of during the time leading up to the holiday but they can still be used for some wonderful meals and snacks throughout the year. Stock and items will vary from store to store but here's what I found offered at my local Walgreens:
Ocean Spray jelly style cranberry sauce: Regular price $1.99 now only $0.60
Keebler graham cracker pie crust: Regular price $1.99 now only $0.60
French's fried onions: Regular price $3.49 now only $1.09 (plus all the ones I found had $1/2 cooupons on them, which makes them $0.59 each)
Comstock cherry pie filling: Regular price $2.79 now only $0.84
Stock up now and enjoy the savings for months!

Black Friday Savings At Lowe's
Not all Black Friday deals are at the department stores. I picked up some free and cheap things at CVS yesterday but the best deal I found was at Lowe's. By shopping online and picking up at the store I was able to enjoy the savings with the most relaxed shopping experience. Even better, I saved 44% on my purchase. I picked up a 17' convertible ladder for $89 instead of the regular $159. Great deal, no coupon needed! My kind of Black Friday shopping, no crowds, no camping out, no spoiling my holiday.

33 Cents Per Pound On Turkey
Today is the beginning of a 3 day ad for Winn-Dixie. There are lots of good deals to be had but this one is amazing! During this sale when you spend $30 you can pick up your turkey for only $5. That's not $5 discount. That's the whole turkey for only $5. Most of the turkeys we saw were around 15 pounds, making it 33 cents per pound which is tough to find. Hurry because this promo ends on Sunday and if it goes over as well as some of the other huge sales they've done they might not have any left. Even if they give you a rain check you might not have it in time for Thanksgiving dinner so make sure you don't miss out.

Keep Your Eye On The Register When Trying To Save Money
Took a quick shopping trip to Walgreen's this afternoon to pick up a couple things, not a planned couponing trip or anything. However, since I had some time to kill, my son and I took our time and perused the orange tags (final closeouts) to see if there was anything good. I find a few things that I picked up like small $0.10 dry erase boards, $0.20 highlighters and some $0.19 ducks for the bath. There always seem to be a few gems being moved out to make room for something new so it's fun to see what you can find.
The point of this post, however, is to remind you that, as you lead a frugal, couponing lifestyle it is important to pay close attention to what the register is saying about your finds. With so many deals it is easy for a large company like Walgreens to miss getting one or two loaded into their system. As has happened before, I noticed another item that rang up wrong and simply set it aside since I didn't need it but when I got home I noticed that my $0.19 bath ducks both rung up for $1.99, 10 times the price. Sure, it's only a few bucks but there is a principal and I would never have considered them for that higher price. There are plenty of toys for the bath in my house already but it was a cheap little extravagance for us.
Of course, when I went back there were extremely helpful and glad to fix the error which I expected but it is still your responsibility (and mine) to make sure our items ring up right so, as I said in the title, keep your eye on the register as much as possible and always make one final study of the receipt when you get home. Happy shopping and happy savings!

Howling Good Deals On Halloween Closeout At Target
Stopped into Target today for a couple of things and saw all their Halloween items marked down from 70 to 90% off. The costumes were a rather slim offering already but there were great deals on the food items. All the Halloween cereals were $0.75, they had caramel apple frosting for $0.40 as well as cakes and cookies at 70% off. For just a few dollars I brought home a lot of food that can still be used even though the holiday has passed. Make sure you get to your Target and check out what they might have left because they are pricing it to move.

Deep Discounts On Deodorant At Target
Right now at Target there is another great opportunity to get a great deal on deodorant and money back (in the form of a Target gift card). When you purchase 4 select personal care items Target will give you a $5 Target gift card at checkout, to be used on future purchases. Add a couple of $2/2 coupons to those 4 purchases and stack the savings. There are a lot of different ways to cash in on the $5 gift card offer but here is what I am looking at.

Took a quick trip to CVS this morning to pick up some milk. It was on sale for $2.99 (regularly $3.79).
