CVS Shopping Trip

I just wanted to post this one a little differently so you could not only see the great deals but how to keep your out of pocket to a minimum.  I took the family to CVS today to get milk since they are offering $1 ECB back on a gallon, limit 2.  While we were there we found that they were still offering their Buy 3 Get $4 ECB on Garnier Fructis which I did not see in the ad but has been the store for a week or two.  When I scanned my card at the in-store coupon machine I also received a coupon to get $3 off the purchase of 3 bags of candy which were already 3 for $9.  Along with everything else I already had my 25% off coupon loaded onto my Extra Care Card from the email I received.  Here's how I split the transactions and rolled my ECB's to make the most of my savings.

This week, at Dollar General, you can get Dove shampoo or conditioner for only $1.  The price is $3.50 per bottle and, if you spend $7 you will get back $2.  Add a $3/2 coupon and you're down to $2 for both or $1 apiece.

Kellogg's For Less At Dollar General

Perks of Being In The Club

Still time to catch a couple of great deals at CVS just for having the Extra Care Card.  Many of the deals you see in the published ad and on the store shelves require you to have one of these cards which is free so I definitely recommend you get one.  In addition, though, in most stores you can take your card to the kiosk in the store.  This kiosk will do price checks for you like many other retailers but it will also read your Extra Care Card and print out additional savings for members.  There are two great deals expiring today that don't require an additional coupon, just the printed savings from this kiosk.  Every time you walk into a CVS find this kiosk and scan your card to see what goodies await you.

Right now, at Walgreens, you can get 28 or 32 oz Tresemme shampoo or conditioner for just $1.  Here's how: The sale price is 2/$8 and you need 2 to get the low price.  Now, add a coupon for $2 off 2.  Finally, Walgreens will give you $4 in Register Rewards for buying 2 which leaves you paying $6 at the register and getting back $4.

I love free stuff.  No doubt about that.  Even better than free stuff is free money to spend how you like.  This is a growing trend in retail it seems which is great for the consumer and the retailers.  The three biggest retailers doing this are Target, giving Target gift cards, CVS, giving ECB's, and Walgreens with their rewards points and register rewards.  Here's a great example of this free money in this week's Target ad:

When you buy 1 23.3 oz Metamucil powder for $15.99 Target will give you a $5 Target gift card with your receipt so you can buy more for free!  Plus, in the Proctor & Gamble insert in the Sunday paper on 8-30 you'll find a $1 off coupon.

Starting Wednesday, September 2, the new Winn-Dixie ad breaks with lots of great deals.  There are plenty of BOGO items to give you two for the price of one but two of Winn-Dixie's old favorites are here as well.  Make A Meal and What A Deal are both promotions you'll find in a lot of Winn-Dixie ads throughout the year and the concept is simple.  Buy one certain item at sale or regular price and receive a number of others for free.  Here is what that looks like this week:

Make A Meal:
Buy 2 Digiorno pizzas for $14.98 (regular price) and receive a box of PretzelDogs, a box of Winn-Dixie Breadsticks and a 1.5 quart container of Mayfield ice cream.

I don't know about you but I love getting things I can use for free.  Now, like many of the deals at Winn-Dixie you will need a customer loyalty card but they are free to get and give you the benefit not only of discounts but savings on gas for your car and the ability to clip coupons directly to the card. The cashier can also scan a card for you but you not only lose out on the fuel savings and digital coupon benefit deals like these two often won't work unless you are using your own card so you should get and keep one.
